About Me

I’ve been working as a Database Administrator (DBA) since 2005, starting with Oracle RDBMS 7.3.4 and SQL Server 2000.

I first started working in IT as an Application Support Analyst for Egg Banking plc with PL/SQL, AS/400 and such like, but after a while decided I needed more of a challenge, and something with a bit more responsibility…

I’ve always been the kind of person who wants to know exactly why, and how things do what they do, and so that’s when I decided to dive into the world of a DBA.  Well, I’m still a DBA today and I love it…most of the time 🙂

Why another DBA blog?  Here’s my view on it…

The more you learn, the more you know.
The more you know, the more you forget.
The more you forget, the less you know.
So…blog it before you forget it!

…and so this blog is my technical journal if you like, sharing my experiences, tips, and techniques as a DBA using Oracle, SQL Server and Middleware technologies etc. over the years…

high quality walk thru’s, you have a very clear style and presentation

I’ve been trying to create a VirtualBox machine with OEL6.4 and Database 11.2.0.3 – the APEX 4.2 upgrade is just icing on the cake.

my Oracle virtual server is up and running and cloned for destruction 🙂

    Thank you!

      Hi Deepthi,

There is an article I posted here if you’re referring to an EM12cR3 upgrade?

      Hope this helps…

      Cheers,
      Garth

Thank you! I had spent about 10 hours trying to get Firefox working with an applet. Then, I found your solution which you posted. Thanks again. Cheers, Randall
